HOSTING A GAME OF CHICKEN RUSH

Part 3

Playing the game

On-the-day tips for how to run a game

Ok. It's Game Day. Don't panic, this is going to be fun! 🐔

They likely didn't teach you how to get hundreds of people to chase a Chicken at school. But don't worry, we can!

Explaining the Rules

How do I explain the game to players?

We’ve come up with a helpful little slideshow for you to use to explain the rules to your group:

Game Introduction (Standard)
Game Introduction (Drinking mode)

Can players view a tutorial?

Yes. All players see a tutorial of how to play during the first 5-minutes of a game to learn how the game works.

So if you forget to explain anything in-person, we’ve got you covered.

Game Registration

Players can join the game via a QR code or URL found in the Invite Players popup found in the Lobby page.

The Host can share this with players in whatever way is easiest. Players can also invite other players once they are in the Lobby to speed things up.

At least two players from each team should register, this reduces the risk of a whole team running out of battery mid-game.

How do I get everyone to join at once?

While you can share the QR code from each registered player, it can be tricky sharing this with larger groups.

We can provide a printable PDF with the QR code that you can put in an easily visible place or display it via a projector or screen. Just get in touch and we’ll provide one!

Alternatively, you can send the URL in advance to attendees via alternative means.

Troubleshooting

If a player is struggling to join the game, please make them sign up using a different email address - this usually fixes everything.

If the player asks for a Game Code to join game, this is the 5-character code found in the Invite Players popup in the Lobby.

If a player asks for the Game Code after the game has started, it can be found in the URL in the address bar during the game.
eg. https://app.chickenru.sh/g/XXXXX

Challenges

Challenges are tasks that teams can complete during the game to gain points.

The Host can create these when setting up the game.

Creating Challenges

When can Challenges be completed?

Challenges can be completed by teams at any point during the Game duration, even after finding the Chicken.

How many points are given for each Challenge?

Each Challenge has a number of points set by the Host.

The Chicken decides how many times a team can submit each Challenge, we often give each team one “redo”.

The Chicken can reward teams with extra points if they feel it is deserved.

The Chicken can punish teams by removing points if a poor submission or cheating occurs.

How are points given?

The Chicken can give points to teams via the Challenges popup mid-game. They select the team, challenge and number of points each time.

Receiving submissions

Submissions are received via WhatsApp at a phone number set by the Host.

Who receives Challenges?

Points

Teams can gain points via Challenges or Finding the Chicken.

The first three teams to find the Chicken gain the following points:

  • 1st - 100 points
  • 2nd - 75 points
  • 3rd - 50 points

Leaderboard

Each player can see a live view of all teams and their points mid-game.

If a team finds the Chicken, this is also shown on the Leaderboard with the time that it occurred.

The winner is the team with the most points once the game’s time limit is up!

The Results

The results are displayed once the game ends.

Disclaimer

Sometimes the results fail to show if a player doesn’t have the app open and visible when the game ends.

Ensure that one of your team is viewing the game in the closing few seconds.

Please contact us if you want a record of the results and we’ll send it over.
